NEW XREF Manager
NEW XREF Manager is built in to the Block Palette, managing external references in your TurboCAD drawing more effectively. XREFs can also be exported with DWG or DXF drawings for greater AutoCAD® file compatibility.
IMPROVED Blocks – Set a material property for Block Insertions and 'By Block' material for entities, and you can specify different rendering materials for different block instances.
IMPROVED Drafting Palette
Drafting Palette improvements in TurboCAD make it exceptionally powerful and unique and expedites the drafting-to-detailing process. It creates associative 2D sections based on standard views or sectional planes of 3D surface or ACIS® solid models, including XREFs. You can even create nested, associative sections (i.e., cross-sections of cross-sections). The 2D views may be placed in paperspaces (layouts), hatched, dimensioned, and annotated. Because they are associative, if the model is changed, or the section plane is updated, the 2D profiles, hatches, and fills are also updated automatically.

IMPROVED Bezier Curves
Node editing options improved to include Equal Curvatures at point, Non-equal Curvature at point, Non-smooth at point, offering much better control over curve fitting with nodes handles.
IMPROVED Node Editing
Add selector mode functionality has been added in TurboCAD to the local menu so you can easily utilize handled based editing to manipulate one or more selected nodes.
IMPROVED Polygons
Now you can define a polygon by the endpoints of one edge in TurboCAD. Handy for stacking polygons against one another.
IMPROVED Dimensioning
Custom Block Arrows are now supported in TurboCAD 16 so you can create customized arrowheads for your dimension styles. Also, dimension scaling in Paper Space now matches scale from Model Space to ensure accurate dimensioning of displayed entities in Paper Space Viewports.
IMPROVED Format Painter
Save Entity properties and formats from imported files for re-use in other drawings. The format painter provides
the ability to save selected formats as preset property values for any object property type. They can then be accessed from the specific Entity Style drop down menu.
NEW Filleted Corners
TurboCAD 16 offers the ability to add filleted corners automatically from the local menu streamlining the process of filleting corners when drawing polygons, irregular polygons, rectangles and irregular rectangles.
NEW Font
Hebrew support of Text, Multiline Text and SHX fonts. You can now properly annotate drawings with Hebrew text in TurboCAD 16.
IMPROVED ACIS Solid Modeling Engine
The ACIS Solid Modeling Engine from Spatial has been updated to version 18 allowing for a host of new and improved features to TurboCAD Pro 16.
NEW Quick Pull
This great productivity enhancement for quickly modeling 3D objects allows the user to select any enclosed geometry on a 3D face and then press it into or pull it out of the design. You can even specify the draft angle and add a chamfer or fillet to the geometry being modified. Works with solids or surfaces.
NEW Mesh Simplifier Tool
This tool degenerates (simplifies to a specific number of triangles) TurboCAD Surfaces. It’s useful for simplifying large, imported meshes that will subsequently be rendered, as render times will be less.
NEW Solid Body Tie
Tool for associating Smart Dimensions with 3D ACIS objects.
NEW Helix
New tool to quickly draw 2D and 3D spirals in TurboCAD.
IMPROVED 3D Booleans – Boolean operations use two existing 3D objects to create a new object. Objects can
be combined, subtracted, intersected, or sliced. Now TurboCAD 16 offers greater control over combining 3D entities with the ability to select multiple entities for addition or subtraction.
IMPROVED Curve – Now TurboCAD offers the ability to split a 3D Curve into two pieces. It’s handy for extracting extrusion or sweep profiles from part of a larger curve.
IMPROVED Extrude, Revolve, Sweep New offset property allows for the creation of a body with constant thickness, as offset.
IMPROVED Advanced Offset Tool Improved to work with ACIS-based objects, offsets are now spline based for curves and ellipses making them more editable. Constrained, compound profiles can also be offset in TurboCAD.
IMPROVED Measurement TurboCAD 16 now has the ability to measure the length of 3D Curves as well as the area of ACIS faces
NEW 3D Mouse Support
TurboCAD now works with the Sandio 3D Mouse - www.sandiotech.com. Speed design as you move along and rotate about your drawings X, Y and Z axes without having to also use your keyboard or other on-screen navigational aids. It makes for more efficient drawing and viewing of 3D objects.
NEW Twisted Extrude (TurboCAD Mech & Platinum Only)
Create a wide variety of twisted extrusions with this simple extrude tool that offers added parameters including Twist angle, Distance type, Normal, Full Height, Twist to top , Twist start distance, Twist end distance, and Twist continuity (G0, G1 or G2).
NEW Thread Tool (TurboCAD Mech & Platinum Only)
Easily create threaded 3D objects. The pitch and height of threading are parametrically defined and editable.
NEW Extrude to Face (Mech & Platinum Only)
Similar to quick pull, extrude to face allows you to pull a face to another surface and TurboCAD will create a Boolean addition or subtraction in the shape of the secondary face. A great productivity enhancement when modeling complex 3D objects.
IMPROVED Imprint Tool (Mech & Platinum Only)
Now sheet metal work is made easier with this tool with the new dimple feature enhancement in TurboCAD Pro 16.

IMPROVED Style Manager for Architectural Designs (Arch & Platinum Only)
The Style Manager allows you to customize or modify styles and parameters for architectural object types, schedules, text and dimensions (both AEC and non-AEC) down to the last detail. Define a style guide and manage how objects are
defined, look and behave. Plus, walls are now supported, so you can create multi-component architectural style walls and use them over an over with the wall tool. TurboCAD also now offers additional styles pre-configured for Windows, Doors, Stairs, Slabs, Rails, Tables and Text, instead of just one, for greater flexibility.
TurboCAD now supports custom Dimension and Text styles created in AutoCAD .DWG drawing. These styles are automatically extracted from an imported DWG drawing and saved into the Style Manager under the appropriate section.
NEW Multi-Component Walls (Arch & Platinum
Only)
Add more variety to the types of walls that can be created. Intelligent self-healing walls can now be made to understand all components that make up that wall, including inside sheet rock, insulation, outside sheet rock, wire mesh, stucco, etc., even it’s association with the foundation. Properties like brush style and color can also be added to each component. Store it as a single entity, and if you extend the wall, the foundation and everything associated with it will extend.
IMPROVED Doors and Windows TurboCAD lets you simply drag-and-drop parametric doors and windows into self-healing walls. This operation is made even easier with these enhancements:
- Precise placement and editing of windows and doors have been made easier with new vertical alignment properties including Head Height, Sill Height for Windows and Head Height, Threshold Height for Doors.
- Editing is now easier with added “Right/Left” and “Inside/Outside” flip options added to Node Editing
- Measuring is simpler with “Measure To Property” added.
- Object Materials in render property offers more visualization options of these architectural object types
IMPROVED Slabs (Arch & Platinum Only)
An offset field has been added to parametric slabs that allow you to specifically control the offset amount between floors and rooms.
IMPROVED Stairs
Added ability to edit the Stair's height.
IMPROVED Railings (Arch & Platinum Only)
This parametric object type now includes the ability to attach railings or banisters to both sides of a set of stairs at once.
IMPROVED LightWorks® Rendering
TurboCAD now includes the Lightworks 7.9 lighting and rendering engine. This major upgrade of the underlying render engine provides global illumination, final gather, tone mapping, gamma correction, and dozens of new material shaders! Plus, benefit from advanced shader descriptions.

NEW Materials to Facet
Now, you can simply drag and drop materials from the Material Palette onto a 3D object's face. This huge productivity improvement in TurboCAD allows you to quickly add multiple material finishes to a single object.

Now there are new methods to accurately scale materials and preview those changes on the fly.
NEW Render Styles and Style Editor
Easily render using pre-defined styles that optimize dozens of settings for specific effects, photorealistic or non-photorealistic. The Render Style Editor allows for unlimited new styles to be created for one-click access to a particular style from project to project.
NEW Database Connect Palette - Now, set up a data link to any data source (ODBC database, Excel, CSV, SQL, Access, Oracle, Sequel Server…) on either your local machine or company network. Since the data source remains outside of TurboCAD, the drawing file size is not affected maintaining performance. Reference data in a TurboCAD table as well as data associated to objects. IMPROVED DWG/DXF Import/Export
TurboCAD has always offered excellent compatibility with native AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT files, making it an excellent companion product to other CAD software programs. A new ability to export XREFs with DWG or DXF drawings offers even greater AutoCAD file compatibility.
IMPROVED Google SketchUp File Support
The SketchUp (SKP) file import filter has been greatly enhanced in TurboCAD v16. Not only is more information about the SketchUp model now successfully imported into TurboCAD, but supplemental rendering, lighting and materials information is imported if the SketchUp model has been rendered with IMSI/Design's IDX Renditioner product, a plug-in to SketchUp.
